Our little is not so little anymore (updated)

Oops, sorry about that---here's the post:

Proud of her new walking skills

She's been quite the climber lately. Trent followed her into the bathroom to see what she was doing, where she stood up on the stepstool, held onto our pedestal sink and just dangled there by her arms as her feet didn't reach the floor. Not sure what the plan was after that, but apparently toddlers live in the moment ( :

We are enjoying watching Tait grow into more of a "protector" as a big brother-they fight a lot but have their sweet moments too. We have to keep an eye on tait's generosity since he is always giving indigo things she shouldn't have, like popcorn for snack and big walker toys in her crib. What fun!

naughty or nice?

(an old draft of a post I found that never got published)

The holidays were wonderful, even though Christmas seems to feel a bit different the older you get! So great.  T & I were looking at pics tonight & re-living some memories, and we howled laughing remembering some of tait's antics. For your viewing pleasure:

The night the tree fell over (with some help from a 3 year old pulling on the garlands)

I should have suspected something b/c when we decorated the tree, he was obsessed with the beads. Note the mass of beads on the tree behind him.

I don't want to glorify his bad behavior by posting all these pictures, but I think i'm going to use the blog to scrapbook, and I want to make sure these pics make it in the book. Plus, my Mom wanted to see them. As the Gma, this is all hilarious to her.

Domesticity: Saucy Apples

Today we ate our last quart of applesauce, reminding me that I want to make more applesauce next year.

"Domesticity" is the name of my new blog series in which i will detail some of the domestic experiments around the house. While i hope someone will find it helpful, it's also a chance for me to keep better notes about what worked & what flopped ( :

Mom, Mandi & I sauced apples last fall.

a break for hummus

good company!

the paring knife queen-Go Mom go!

So, the details:
-Used Cortland apples-makes really thick chunky applesauce
-1 bushel apples = 16 qts sauce
-Victoria Strainer worked well. We left the peels on, simmered apples on the stove with a bit of water then strained (next time add about 2" water to apples on stove, sauce was almost too thick)
-1/4 c sugar (or less) added to each 9x13 of fresh sauce
-SO GOOD-will definitely repeat this experiment

hard to remember when indi was this little & content to sit on a blanket ( :

Aaahhh, and no domestic chore is complete without a mess from my son it seems ( : We found him under the kitchen table eating sugar as fast as he could shove it in! There was no denying the guilt of  little miscreant as his footprints were in the sugar-Mom thought this was especially funny since she's now the Gma!
